FREE&UNION Commitment to Anti Racism in Skateboarding
The ‘Commitment to Anti-Racism in Skateboarding’ is an idea led by the Goodpush Alliance, together with members from a dozen social skateboarding organizations worldwide.
As members of the global skateboarding community, we have come together to make a collective commitment. Above all to actively resist and challenge systemic racism in our own scenes, organizations, the skateboard industry, and wider society.
The goals of the Commitment are to:
Help keep the BLM and Anti-Asian Hate momentum going and keep anti-racism action on the agenda.
Encourage skate companies, media, social skate projects, pros, national skate federations, and individual skaters. To agree to challenge the systemic racism that exists in the skate community and wider society.
What’s the Commitment?
This is a Commitment for the global skateboarding community to sign on to. So that we can better unite and educate ourselves in challenging racism. Officially launched on May 25th, 2021.
Who Can Sign?
All skateboarders, skate shops, brands, social skate projects, skateparks, media. In other words, anyone else who is a part of the skate community and wants to fight to end racism.
Signatories
More than 200 skateboarding brands and non-profit organizations have already signed onto the Commitment, with the list growing each day.
Who’s Behind It?
The Commitment is an initiative from the Goodpush Alliance. Which is a network of social skateboarding projects from around the world.
As a result of that the Pushing Against Racism working group includes members from a dozen skateboarding non-profit organizations and skate companies.

Came out of a series of webinars on anti-racism action that were held for the global skateboarding community in 2020.

Signing this Commitment does not mean the work is done.
It is only the beginning. Of the serious work we must do to abide by the principles and actions within it.
